We don't have representation. This is a problem. I know this because I've spent most of my life trying to impress girls.
Have you ever tried to seduce a girl by telling her how handsome you are? How sexy? It doesn't work. You sound like a tool.
That's why you go to bars with a wing-man. They are your representation. We use others to get our message across.
Selling your script is like getting Cindy Crawford to sleep with you. Don't believe me? Try this simple exercise: Go ask the Brad Grey, the talent-friendly studio head of Paramount, to buy your script. Next, go ask Cindy Crawford to have sex with you.
Both answers are going to be the same.
So, Trey and I need to recruit a wing-man to find us a professional wing-man.
I've sent the script to two people. The first is an executive at Bold Films, which is about to release LEGION. The executive is the husband of my girlfriends best friend. You follow? The company has some major heat with the impending release of Legion and if this guy likes the script and recommends it, people will pay attention.
I figure he'll read it because of marital obligation. A week later he hasn't emailed back to say he got the script. Not good news.
The second person is Nick. Nick is the guy you want in your corner despite having no power in Hollywood. He's looking to become an agent. This is good. He has relationships with a lot of people who do have power in Hollywood. Nick used to do a lot of drugs. With these people. This is also good.
He'll read it because he's a great guy. He also has great taste. I hope he likes it.

THE IDEA
I'm sitting on the couch watching television with my roommate when an idea occurs to me.
"We should make a movie-- that's like-- Die Hard in a high school."
Simple enough. Most ideas pass us by. You say it and then forget about it.
However, my roommate loved the idea and put his foot down, "Jason, that's the best idea you've ever had."
And then we wrote it. It took a few months. It was really fun to write. And now we're done.
This blog is about the process of trying to get our movie, ALL-AMERICAN, made.
